I may have a chance to pick up a slightly used from a friend of the family. Her husband died recently and she is moving to a retirement community. I went yesterday and looked and found a Mtronic 362 that looks like he may have ran a tank through it if that. There is a jug of Stihl Motomix that has about that missing from it. She didn't know when he bought it, but said it was recently.

Are these saws pretty good? I know it's in the pro lineup, but how do they compare to a 036? Are there different series/phases of these saws? How do they compare to the 562s?

I'm not going to take her for a ride since she is a family friend. Does anyone know what a new one runs from the dealers? I plan on checking tomorrow, if they have any.

I like mine a lot, and with a muff mod it will run with most stock 60 cc saws out there, even though some people don't think it will (mine was videod at a GTG against a 560, both modded the same).

Ported it is real nice, but the Huskies are stronger ported.

The power head of the Version I (which I will presume it is) is 13 lbs, which is the same as a 562 or 262.

I prefer the internal clutch of the 362, and it has the best air filtration of the bunch. The spring AV is also very smooth. (The 362C [MTronic] has a much better air filtration system than a non C 362 [designation on the recoil]). Plus, I really like the MTronic.

In short, it is a VG saw. I think they go for about $750 new, but used prices are quite a bit less. $400 - $500 would likely make you both very happy.

It balances very well with a 20" E bar, but the ES 20" will make it noticeably nose heavy.

Best of Luck.

There you go trying to pull people to the dark side again.

If I get this saw, it will be for my dad. His little Stihl (forgot what model, but one of the little homeowner saws) has been giving him trouble. He said he would spend a little more on one this time. They went from a house where we burned wood, to one without a way to burn wood when I moved out. Now they bought a place a few years ago and he just bought a Firechief outdoor furnace we are going to install. It has a stove in the basement also. I think it would make him a good firewood saw as is. Thanks fellas.

the 362 will run,
the bolts wont fall out, then strip.
your forum buddies won't be impressed and that makes it "moped worthy"
(meaning you will have tons of fun till your buddies catch you with one)
it won't bog and hesitate, then fail to start because ...its just too darn hot outside to work.
so its NOT the hot blonde you always dreamed of but she will put firewood on the deck for you if your looking for a 60cc one saw firewood plan.

And, it will do that year after year....

You gotta be careful not to ruffle anyone's feathers here Angelo. They don't like it when you talk about stuff like that.
I really like the MMWS, and how it holds RPM'S throughout the cut. Very smooth power band.

Its not a bad saw at all.

Tough..like most stihls.

Not the fastest of the bunch..doesnt matter unless you race it.

I use them all the time and find it to be a good tool overall.

My first mtron 362 had a major problem starting when warm..new coil fixed that.

Hey Dustin,

I've been looking for one of these. If for any reason, you decide not to get it for your pop, I'll hook the widow up with top dollar if I can get a pic or two of the saw first, don't mind taking care of her on it under the circumstances. I'll pay you to send it directly to that prick in the video above and we'd all be happy.
