Straight from the Husqvarna tech manual. A square piece of wood could be used in the cup, just happened to be that ball fit tight inside.


Great write up. I normally make bushings from delrin and press them into the starter pulley. It will last longer than the original nylon pulley.
That is a good idea! Wouldn’t nylon or TuffKast machined to proper size,also work?

Probably more ways to skin that cat than a person realizes. Main thing I wanted to show folks was that it could be repaired and didn't have to be replaced with a new unit.
If I didn't mention it, I always grease the post, some shops say not to. I figure that there is all manor of goo getting in there anyway, might as well be some where it can do some good.

It's great that took the time to post it. Some pulleys are NLA and tough to find used but generally they can be fixed. I just fixed up a 2100 with a delrin bushing a few weeks ago.

I also grease the post and put some on the spring too.
