As you get older (and wiser) you realise that having the biggest stick isn't always the right choice .

Largest saws I have range from 30-60cc , lots of juice for anything I cut , no need for long bars or over kill :pesas:

What kind of Dolmak ya got there? How old is it? I focus on the smaller saws too because they are just easier to use for most of my cutting needs. Parts are way cheaper too. Also, you can buy them very cheap in little used condition at yard sales and pawn shops.

As cool as big saws are, there just aren't enough old growth trees on my place to give one a proper workout. My Dolly 5105 will handle anything here with ease. My neighbor has an Echo 590 and he uses it alot, says it is the best saw he has ever owned.
It is the Makita 3601 / Dolmar 352. I only have one tank through her so far. I have high hopes for it. If it breaks in like my 6100 then it will be a ripping little bugger.

I say small saw is sub 45cc.

The smallest saw i use a lot is a husky 268w with a 272 p/c. It pulls a 28" full comp chain easily. I love it in smaller wood. No sense in packin a 288 or 390 for 18" wood.
