68 headed to 86 today.

Made some tough decisions for mom last night. The tumour in her lung has grown to such size that it is impinging on her esophagus so she her breathing will only continue to get worse. She hasn't liked swallowing food lately and this would be why.

She'll never be able to go back to her assisted living apartment, not sure if next stop is a nursing home or if there is even a point to that and it is straight to palliative care.
Is she getting any help breathing?

Sorry to hear about your mom Gary

Thanks guys.

Yes, cancer sucks but in this case mom has always recognized it was her own doing having smoked for 60 plus years.

She's on O2 ongoing now and has been on a myriad of puffers and meds for years.

Mom has been ready to be with dad again for a couple of years, now we just have to focus on her comfort until they can be together again.

Stay strong brother. Did she have a living will or anything to help with these tough decisions?

How clapped out is it?
just really dirty and making it look worse than it should.

Yes, we have lots of guidance in this area. We were lucky enough to be able to have these conversations with her before the dementia really took hold of her. The hardest part for me will be keeping my sister following mom's wishes. Last night she was asking me when I could go look at nursing home with her to decide where we wanted mom to go. I had to remind her that mom will never experience any of the facilities, nor will she know where she is. We know of a couple older facilities that might not be pretty but have excellent care, why not just put her on the list there? I maybe sounding callous at time, I love my mom but I also have made peace with the next step in her journey, my sister has not.

I here ya. We where lucky with my Grandma and that the place she was in was a one stop shop. And that made it easier on everyone.
