The one thing I don't like about Hobart is that you can't fine tune the things. They have 10 or so voltage settings. I like to have the ability to fine tune my voltage.

I've got a old Lincoln tombstone for stick already. I'm questioning if these smaller ones will have enough ass behind them for tig.

If I do go with the more expensive multi-task ones I will have to use flux-core wire for the time being until I can get a tank.

Also if I get a multi-task I'm not planning on setting up for tig, but at least I have that option down the road if the need arises
i have a tombstone one also and I can tig with it like we set up the old machines at work but anymore they started renting the millers with better controls

We had a esab mig at work and I never really liked it. The new one is a Lincoln it welds so much nicer.

For home I have a Hobart 180 (I think). I've put miles of wire through that little bugger and it's been bulletproof.

Lincoln, Miller/Hobart any of them would be a good choice as long it has the features you're looking for.

i have a Lincoln 140 that has 5 heat settings but usually only use it to do sheet metal work

Been welding for 20yrs as my profession.
Have used the Miller and Lincoln good ones. Have not used Esab. We tested one where I used to work, bigger one, I didn't like it.
For me it would come down to the first two $ and dealer support and how close dealer.

I've only talked to guys who have ESAB, they all like then, but none of the weld shops carry them. Which is leaving me towards blue or red.

Get gas to use the dual shield wire. Much better welds. The Lincoln if I remember right will run a push/pull fun to mig aluminum

The miller can also run spool gun

I'm doing great. Are you going to fire up that saw today DJ?
Ran it some this morning. It seems pretty strong but has a leak somewhere. I might have time to mess with it later. Have to take the boys pigs to the fair.

We have a esab at work. It acts like your welding rust no matter what. But it can weld some 1/4 plate real good.
