And a smoker question what can I used to seal up around smoker doors? They dont lock the lid just rest on it.
Lava Lock Nomex self-adhesive gaskets. They make them specific for a lot of grills/smokers, but they have various thicknesses and widths as well. Here's the remnants of a 15-ft roll I've used. It's 1/8" thick x 1/2" wide...used it on my new Smoke Hollow smoker. Will probably order another roll for my new Traeger...I bleed s little bit of smoke around the lid at the hinge areas. No biggy, but I want smoke leaving a smoker one place only...the stack. If not, you losing heat, smoke, and taking longer to achieve the same end results. If you need any RTV for anything, I've found the SILCO RTV 4500 in black to be an excellent food-grade RTV for smoking.

You see the Lava Lock Nomex gasket around the perimeter. I also ran a good bead and bed it in, sealed this Smoke Hollow plexi-glass window to the frame with the SILCO RTV 4500...the only place this bad boy exits smoke is through the stack on top now.

Before I ran the SILCO RTV 4500 to the inside door at the plexi-glass, I drilled and reamered 7 small machine bolts and nuts, two up top either side of the thermometer, two on the bottom at the same layout, and three up the left side. Got them just snug enough to barely dimple the metal door slightly and let it go. The handle sealed the right-hand side of the plexi-glass. Then I ran the bead of SILCO RTV. It does what it was designed to do now...smoke through the stack only. It's amazing you gotta fine tune and *f-word with chit nowadays to get it to do what it's designed and supposed to do from the get-go!!...it's a smoking ass machine now!
