Walked a piece of bid timber today. Supposed to be 132000mbf of timber on it. Wasn't the most fancy stuff but nice ground to work on. Wtf was the forester thinking when he was marking these as log trees. Saw a pile of chit like this marked for logs. Think I'll pass on this sale.

Guess it depends on the Forester. Guys I know wouldn't intentionally mark it like that because they know if it's cut properly they can sell timber from it again in another 10-15 years.
This is a clear cut. Turning it into pasture. But with the trees they have marked here and there I don't know how they think anyone could bid with an honest figure and be confident the footage is there.

Well, had to independent laboratory test my semi-chisel chain sharpening of last night. Had a 26 inch White Pine log on the mill that needed the ends trimmed off, so that was my test victim. Performed way better than I had expectations of. Glad I experimented as I was getting a bit complacent with my sharpening. Will be glad when I tear into that pile of dirty firewood to have semi-chisel that cuts good.
