Settling down now after my daughter and her college galfriend came by to eat, before they head back to campus. The ribs got blistered. Gotta little fire going in my little fire pit...good times to sit by yourself, drink a cold one, listen to some good rock 'n roll, and reflect on how good I really got things with the people in my life. And you fellas, even though we've never met...count a helluva lot. And don't forget that fellas.

That reminds me. My sister has a house full of college kids at the moment. My nephew and 3 of his buddies left the campus to avoid the hurricane. Not sure when they will be able to return.

Sounds like she's gonna have a hefty grocery bill!

Looks delicious
The only thing I'd have to add to that meal is a Porterhouse steak. Rare please.

I grilled myself a Porterhouse this evening. Rare of course

Ive never been one for seafood, but last year (A year ago last week) we took a cruise for our 10th anniversary. One of the meals they served was Lobster tail or New York Strip for the main course.

I figured what the heck, I only live once and decided to try the lobster. I think by the end of the meal I had about 6 of those. They were tasty.

There ya go...lobster is fine. To me, all shellfish/crustaceans are fine. I eat'em all.

Our grill caught on fire and ruined a couple nice porterhouse steaks back in the summer.

I think I might have shed a tear. We ended up having hotdogs that night.

A few years back I fired up my gas grill to preheat and walk away. About 5 minuets later my wife is yelling at me to get my ass back to the grill...

My ignitor died on the grill years ago so I always used a propane torch to light it. I always set the torch on the table on the side of the grill.
At some point the torch got knocked down and was laying between the side table and the grill.
While preheating the grill that day all the grease caught fire and started burning. It got the grill red hot and Lisa walked out just in time to see the relief valve burst on that small tank and ignited and was shooting flames out.

Thankfully it didn't burst, but I had to replace a few pieces of siding on the garage and the side shelf on the grill melted away...

oops.

I never was a seafood fan, but its growing on me.

Saradodgegeek cooked up some amazing Pike for their GTG. I was hooked.

At my GTG this summer we all went out to a local restaurant for supper and they had all you could eat Perch. I sampled some from some of the guys and that was good stuff too.

I am not a fan of shrimp though.

I suppose now that Red Lobster has 'all you can eat shrimp' you'd be a no show?

Sounds pretty scary.

With ours it was a good thing the garden hose was handy because the valve on the tank was too hot to touch.

I cooled the tank and let the grease fire burn it self out. We were taught to do that with large propane tanks in a couple of fire simulations. Sometimes that live fire training comes in handy!

My neighbor tried to light his grill and it wouldn't light so the dumb ass just shut the lid and walked away. 5 minutes later it sounded like a bomb went off so i ran to the door and i saw the neighbor on his ass, his grill blown into about 20 pieces, and the lid about 100ft in the air. Lucky he didn't kill himself.

Yea....

Well... Sounds like there is a good chance ill be getting that training. Thursday night there was a family picnic for the family's on our local FD. I had a chance to meet a bunch of the guys.

Saturday Lisa made a comment to a few of the guys that I was interested in joining. Needless to say that last night one of the Lieutenants stopped by and gave me a app and said that a bunch of the officers feel that id be a good fit and asked how interested id be in joining....

We shall see.

I think it's a great thing to do if you have the time. It's selfless work and the volunteer guys are underappreciated for the most part.

I'd probably do it as well if it wasn't for trying to basically work two jobs and spend time with the family.

The training alone is priceless in emergency situations.
