Had to do today what I've never done before. I put my duck dog down for the count.
I got him at 8 weeks. He ran under the tire of our Tahoe at 10 weeks and injured the cartilage in his right hip, so for 13.5 years he walked with a limp (seemingly pain-free). He's been panting excessively for 3 years now, but today he started gasping for air. Had to take him to the vet.

He went to Manitoba first with me when he was 6 months old, and went every year since. His first retrieve was for another guy in our hunting group in Manitoba- he took off after it with a stiff tailwind in 1' of water and mud, and by the time he got to the duck, it was 500 yds away. It was all downhill with him after that.

So here's to the most bull-headed, hard headed, most pukingest, most duck fetchingest machine that I've ever owned or ever will own. It's time to move on to the land of calm, cattail-free, open-water retrieves in doggy heaven. Love you buddy

Room temperature is good but if you heat it it's amazing! But don't try it with cheap bourbon.
I was talking with my spirit shop owner one day about sipping liquor, and he brought out this
68e7f906a1e34c6b17c4505db0cec31c.jpg

He said up until the 70's or so people drank their liquor warmed. When quality of liquor went down people started chilling it to mask the flavor so they could drink it quicker, and on the rocks became popular. Freakin drunks! Lol!

Try it with some quality bourbon, and you won't believe the difference. You won't be slugging it down I can assure you. I've heated the glasses in a pan with water for some friends and doing it this way they have cut down on their drinking. Good vodka and moonshine I've tried to and it's nice. Flavors you never knew were there.

Just an FYI
If you heat it up, breathe in carefully with your nose over the glass, it will wake you up quick!

I just need to vent here guys...

Tomorrow we have three visitation's to attend. Two of the people were older and under hospice. The third was in his mid 50's and had a massive heart attack.

This evening I just got word that a buddy of mine just passed away. Today was his 48th birthday.

He was a Marine. When I decided to run in the Marine Corps Marathon to honor my best friend who was killed I talked to Terry and asked if he was interested. He never batted a eye and said that he's in.
Between the two of us we had two other guys run with us. The other two were out of state so couldn't do to much for fundraising efforts.
Terry never knew my Junior, but being a fellow Marine he wanted to be a part of the cause.

Terry and his family were instrumental in helping us raise over $19,000 to The MARSOC Foundation. Between our two families we rallied our small community together and had over 1000 people attend a big roast that we threw.

Early this morning he passed away from what sounds to be a heart attack.

I am in absolute shock
Rough day yesterday, no doubt, my friend.
