It's easy with Tapatalk.
I don't go on the forums with my phone.
The heat index was 104 today.
I finally got my truck driveable again. I rescued an old flatbed from the scrap heap. It had been on a GM. I had to move the square tubing frame of the flatbed to fit the frame rails of my Dodge. I chopped and extended the headache rack to accommodate my toolbox. I added a goose neck hitch to the bed. I had it sandblasted and painted. The rear bumper is a piece of random 10" channel. I still have a lot a work left. Fenders, steps, stake sides, license plate lights and re-wire the tailights.

Guys...I apologize for the derail...just wanted to get a couple of things off my chest. It's a helluva weight to bear...a little easier if I can shed some light on the deal. Let's get back to the subject nature shall we?

Thank you for the understanding, well wishes from you folks.

Derail?

How do you derail a train that was never on the tracks to begin with?

Powerful stuff...good read. I had read this previosly in another article. True Devil Dogs until the end. I'm sorry for your friends loss. I know it's a heavy burden in your heart my man. I spent my time in that sandbox, lost a lot of damn good brother Marines and Army and Air Force and Navy service members.

I'm 49 yrs young this year...if I got a call tonight or tomorrow...I'd suit up and boot up, tell my children I love them, kiss them on the forehead, for a little retribution with those SOB's. I've seen, smelled, tasted chit in those wars that would make a billygoat puke. And yes...I was absolute complicit in it. When humans hunt humans, it changes everything...It gets in your head in a combat zone.

That was a good post you put up my brother...lest we never forget those who've perished so we live with our freedoms.

I live every day of my life thinking what could I have done better when the lead got to flying. I enjoy my work now on C-17's to ferry these young men and women into a possible combat zone, humanitarian relief, etc. I do my damnedest every day on that base being in the position I'm in, to make absolute damn sure there are zero plane malfunctions. And I take my job damn serious. Some of these C-17's are the same birds that ferried me/our Marine Corps asses there and back...they simply get updated and retrofitted with the latest, greatest upgrades.

I'll say it again...if they called me tomorrow...I'd be packing and gone for a little desert Kill-Fest vacation. Once the enemy is in ya...they're in ya...in that environment. It was what it was...and it is what it is fellas.

I live my life in a way that I have no regrets. I've done my share of stupid things but I learn from them. That being said I have one and only regret. That is not signing up and joining the Corps with my buddy.
We were like brothers, we worked together on the farm since we were 12. After work we'd always be together.
We both met with the recruiter and we're going to the meetings etc. We were training to prepare for basic for over a year. We were planning on joining up with the buddy program and after Basic try like hell to get into Recon.

Well, the time came to sign on the line and pussy got in my way, I never signed. Next Friday will be 4 years. Being the two of us were cut from the same cloth I've always wondered if I'd have made it as far right along with him and if there would have been anything I'd have been able to turn the tide.

But then I take a step back and look at it all. I wouldn't have my family. Through his death I met up with one of his best friends that he had in the Corps. We ended up making connections and now he is one of my best friends and because of that our family is seriously contemplating making a move to Texas in the next 5-10 years.

I'll listen any time ya need. I was there for the "easy" part - Desert Shield/Storm. I have friends now with kids that are recently back from Afghanistan - they didn't have it so easy.

Off on a tangent - did I get a call from you today? 715 551 number comes up as Wausau area cell, but the # didn't bring up any scammer/cold call type hits on a search.

Thank you all gentlemen for being a sounding board...and letting me rant for a little. I didn't mean to do this, but it got the best of me. I wanted to give my fallen brother Marines, Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, a big shout out. None of us can never change one thing...and that's our past. And I like everyone, can't change mine. Let's never forget those who gave all...where we come from...the sacrifices our moms, dads, brothers, sisters have made...and what we common, hard working folks stand for. And what we hopefully can convey to the next generations.

Semper Fi...thank you again for being a sounding board.
