I did my 19 by smoothing out finger grooves and resessing trigger guard then used heat to take out hump on back strap then stipuled the whole thing. I was a bit nervous the whole time but now feels much better will get pics for you

I'd like to see how you releaved the trigger guard.

I just made a trade with a guy yesterday. I have a 226 that I've been trying to sell or trade for a G19. A guy finally bit and we are meeting up on Tuesday.

That's the next one to go under the iron.

I had to cut some uneven tails off like this last night ,was going to use the skillsaw but it would not go through the 4x6 in one cut had the ht101 pole saw out from limbing trees ,was thinking hmmm and tried one followed my pencil line nice ,and it did not splinter bad with the baby chain on it ,cut them all off from the ground ,i never seem to get a perfect cut on tails with a sawzall ,the pole saw impressed me .,on a more finished look like you have there may not be ideal though .

Those let ins on the ridge,is that another jig you made up or does it come that way?

No it doesn't come that way. We made a jig for it. It not only hides the plumb cuts, because they always shrink and open, but it also keeps the rafter from twisting and allows hidden fastening.

Uneven? I'm not sure what you mean...[emoji12]
My 10" makita cuts through 3-3/8, then I finish it with a sharp utility knife.

Even with the skillsaw if i cut through ,seems like i never get the other side perfect first time ,i can get a cleaner cut finishing with a sawzall at that point ,if i go for a perfect shown end i cut them on the 14 inch miter saw before i put them up ,it cuts in one swipe ,i do not have the big skillsaw like you have .Someday i will though ,lol

I could cut it clean with the 16" makita but it's big and heavy. On the horses is one thing. Up in the air is tough. If I need to cut it from both sides and its finish work, I just grab the belt sander and make it nice.
