The last thing I want to do if I need to change a tire on the side of the road is to be using one of the flimsy scissor's jacks.

Truth. Git ya a chunk of 1/4" steel for the wheels to ride on though in case you're on a grass/gravel/mud shoulder when you gotta change one. When the jack digs in and don't move, a floor jack is as flimsy as the factory Fisher-Price jack. BTDT, was cranky when it happened. I carry a bottle jack in the pickup, it doesn't work well under the car though, so I use what came with it there.
