Good afternoon simon why do you guys run short bars over there?
Hi Dave ....Im not going to speak for the hole UK population :D..but from my point of view I dont use a saw on a longer bar than is needed, longer than i need. A large dia log/tree will get a longer bar if needed but im not going to use a long bar on small wood .

You must have a good back and or spine.
Edit i would run a 24 on everything if i had enough bars to go around.lol

I'll grab something, probably Mcdonalds... Grocery store isn't open and I finished off my cheereos yesterday when I woke up.

I really should go shopping when I wake up, but I haven't wanted to leave early with the cold weather.
I can't say I blame you there :(

I wouldn't let it get around too much that I have small wood if I were you. ;)

There is another way of looking at that maybe ?. Leverage ...long bar = more leverage against you ..IF..you havn't got it supported by the tree as you do when felling. Long bar "could" be looked at as harder work on your back if limbing and negate the perceived advantage of reach. Think "crane jib" ...leverage of reach reduces the lift capacity...or puts more strain on the crane.

I block a lot not much felling or limbing always stretching to get through a cut.
And saws are cooler here with long bars. Haha
