Rudy, Keith, and I dropped a 30" hickory this morning. Five hours later we drove off with three trucks overloaded.

The brush was thrown out of the yard into the woods too.

Dallas......I'm tired.
That's some heavy chit. I'm sure you are tired.

Hickory brush is hateful stuff. Tangles it's self up in a knot just looking at it.

Ain't that the damn truth.

This was a yard tree setting alone, so it had a big top. A mess it was for sure.

Bonus......I ran four or five tanks thru my new 661. :)

It's a prick to cut if you have the rakers down a little too low. Shagbark has near explosive bark when you first put the chain to it. Burns good and hot but don't keep it more than a year or two even if it's covered. The bugs will turn the whole stack into sawdust before you know it.

Smoking wood right there

I'd give my left and maybe right nut for a huge load of Hickory for the smoker

I've been using that Vanguard chain nobody likes. It's real smooth in hard wood.

Spot on about the bugs. They all love hickory. lol

Y'all ain't got hickory up there Ross?

Nope, my buddy had to buy a tic this spring for $200.....

I had a Forester come look at the timber in my woods 5 years ago. He made a comment on one tree being hickory.
From everything that I looked at though with pictures of leaves and the bark, I am not sure that he was right.
