What saws are you running these days. I remember you running 661's but I believe you switched to a 390 when you came to work for you current employer.
Personally I'd never buy a 390XP. They just do not hold up to every day all day abuse. Within a month of using it the air filter cover melted to the top cover plastic. The spark plug boot melted/tore on the flywheel side of the cylinder. About 2 months ago the muffler started to crack in the front above the muffler bracket and now there is a hole about 3/4" by 1/2". The chain tensioner does not keep the chain tight. The fasteners always come loose. Hard starting. Performance wise I have not a single complaint at all cuts really well and dosent lack power at all. I guess I'm partial to stihl, they seem like a more refined saw with much better dealer support. I understand the dealer support can vary greatly.

Big mill? little mill? cnc?
One of our bigger mills. The bed is about 4' not sure if that's a big one or not. I'm not quite ready for the CNC stuff yet.

I do enjoy messing around with them though. I haven't had much time to use them this year but when I was on night shift I had more free time.

I made a lot of parts for the ssqa on my tractor with the small mill.

This was the roughing the weld off the last one we did. Talk bout living on the edge.. feed to slow will just rub and toast the endmill. too fast and it will (hopefully stall) or grab and shatter the cutter while trying to toss the mill at ya..

Did you get your roof fixed Ross?

Nope.... I am seriously plucked here......

There is nothing the roofer can do, its all issues with ventilating and all to do with ice build up.

We have a old farm house that was built in 1900. When we bought it from Lisas grandparents I gutted the second floor because that was all original. I did it all myself and had a "builder" who we use on the farm to give me guidance.
Needless to say, I didn't know any better and took his advice when I was doing the work. We have 4 rooms up there with 4 closets. Those closets follow the roof and taper down with the roof and there is only 4" rafters between the top of the closets and the roof. He told me the thing to do is to spray the rafters with closed cell foam. He hooked me up with "his guy" who does that work.

Well, I took his advice and had "his guy" spray foam in the rafters in those closets......

Now there is absolutely zero ventilation...... The heat from the closets is working through the insulation and causing ice build up.... It is looking like I need to tear the drywall off of the ceilings in the closets and then tear out that spray foam and do something to get the air to vent out the peak....

I have been asking around about this "builder" who does work for us on the farm and about "his guy" that was a "insulator" Yea, it turns out that he was a sham and was only in business for maybe a year and did absolutely chitty work and no longer insulates......

Sorry to hear that, it sounds like it's going to be a pita to fix it.

Good to hear a logger's perspective. Dealer support means a lot. Brand doesn't mean much to this firewood hack. I got a 660 from another logger and basically the only thing wrong with it was it needed a clutch.
