Once while I was active duty I had airdrome officer duty on a Saturday. Weather was overcast and I was hungover. We got a call that a NASA T-38 was diverting in for a gas stop. It was a full bird colonel astronaut from the Apollo 16 mission Charlie Duke. We called the Base Commander immediately, met the plane and had a great time chatting with one of the nicest people I've ever met. In the same nice guy class as the monkey with the pistol. He drank a cup with us, chatted endlessly about his moon trip, passed thru the wx shop, got in his plane and left. The Base Commander showed up in time to she his exhausts taxi over the hill. Somehow it was my fault he didn't get there sooner. Got a lecture about an O-6 being met by an O-6, guess I was supposed to tell the astronaut he couldn't leave till our local dickhead got there. I don't think he'd have been as impressed with the commander as he was the airman who walked into the VIP room to meet the astronaut eating a pizza and offered him a bite.

Afternoon fellas. Gone for a few days and 500 messages behind! Did get to run the saws and split some wood between the rain storms this weekend. I will post a pic or two of the stacks of Ash when I get it done. Almost there. It sure was nice to get away for a few days.
