I know exactly what you mean about putting on defective new parts. I'm a truck mechanic. I've put on a lot of faulty new parts. A few years ago I put in and removed a new transmission in a truck 3 times. (As per my foremans request) The truck had a pto and underslung exhaust. After the second time the foreman wouldn't come anywhere near me. Lol.

I've done the water pump in one of those. Fug Jeeps.

I have the auto parts store "test" alternators and starters before I walk out now.
