Evening Todd, everything going as good as can be, knock on wood. A-10's are some badass planes, as well as many aircraft in our fleets today, can take a chitload of punishment with redundant systems, lose an engine, etc and still manage to come back...one big plus for multi-engine aircraft, but not so much for single-engine aircraft...laws of gravity tend to work against those, and quick. I remember watching as a kid and still watch the documentaries and vids to this day, many B-17 Flying Fortresses back during WWII just shot up ten ways to hell, missing flight control surfaces, etc, making the long trek back to airfields in England. A definite testament to pilot(s) skills and knowing what an aircraft is or isn't capable of!

It's not going anywhere in the foreseeable future. They've talked other aircraft fulfilling the role of the A-10, but the cost is way too high on a per aircraft basis to possible loss ratio to have multi-role fighters like the F-35 Lightning II and other newer, as advanced aircraft of the same, take on low-level altitude ground engagements. The A-10 is a tried and true workhorse and the upkeep and maintenance is not what was put on the table as projected years ago to be its' undermining and demise.

Boeing plants local here got a multi-million dollar contract to rebuild and upgrade the center box wing sections, doublers, etc, and the required airframe upgrades for a meager fraction of a percentage of what the newer , multi-role, ground attack capable aircraft cost today. The A-10 will still provide the finest ground attack support missions and low-level tank, armored personnel carrier, and mechanized fighting vehicle, target killing abilities to the Grunt and Soldier on the ground for quite some time!
