I have taken a break from watching the news. Can only watch so much bad news. I think they are starting to get some containment.

''containment'' is often used as a feel good term, gives people the impression things are being handled.
In reality, it means fireline and mop up in areas already burnt. The rule is, a minimum of bare mineral soil (4'-12') separating burnt from unburnt.
Class b or c crews do that, hump the hoses, dig up burning crap. Hot Line is where you stand and defend the line you are building, generally on the fire's flanks.
I worked on 3 Class A crews, 2 CA State crews, Humboldt and Del Norte and 1 Federal crew on the Klamath. With CDF, we were cutting crews, we went in first and cut a 30 to 40 foot swath through whatever is there and take care of the larger hazard trees and snags. We often used one or two big saws like a 660 or SP125s, up to a half dozen 10-10s, with a few Homelites or Echos. Fun times.

Thanks Not sure how much I will use the mower.Been stoked with the gravely pro master 200 with the 60" since I replaced a bearing in the idler pulley.Thought had something wrong with one of the spindle bearings hard to see when its under you and can't see it working.
