Simple test run it for an hour, check it with an IR gun. Cool it off, block off vent and go again. My guess is the [emoji196] skin is creating enough resistance to not make much difference either way.Evening

I'm wif stumpy on this one. In theory, he's right. Unless your frogskin is in the carburetor area behind the partition. Hard to tell exactly where its at from the pics.
Hold your hand over the one on the left while running the saw and see if air is blowing out of the hole or being sucked in. In a perfect world, it may actually be sucking extra air through it, which is helping you.
By only having holes on the right, the air HAS to flow through the fins and exit on the right.

Hell I've run cylinders with 75 percent of the fins smashed off that were fine and ran plenty cool.
