Little food for thought...If anyone is through mid-Ga the wknd of Oct 1-2, Robins AFB where I work, is having their Air Show. Thunderbirds will be here this year, as well as several other flight/flight demonstrations, many static displays of fixed and rotary wing aircraft you can walk in and out of, sit in cockpits, etc, etc. Good family time, especially for kids.

I'm not sure of the itinerary yet, but if anyone is interested I can relay the info as soon as I find out. If you've never been up close and personal to a F-22 Raptor or F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, you're in for a helluva treat. The F-22 will blow you away with its flight demonstration. It is unreal what it can do in the air.

Dem nice saws. I had to do a bottom end on one for a customer this past winter and when I finished I ran a few tanks through it, I was impressed.

The clutch side seals are a royal PITA.
That's why you buy it already on the bearing. 395 top end won't fit. Snelling bored a 390 to 56mm and used a 2100 thin ring piston in one.

That bearing is $40-45 which sux but it is what it is.

If I pick this saw up today it'll likely get repaired and sent down the road. I already have the 385 and 395 so I probably don't need it.

I think I paid low $30 from someone. Can't remember where now. I need to work on my 385. It's mostly all there just lack motivation.

This saw originally had a bad seal, I figured easy fix, pop a new seal in and away I go.

After pulling my hair out and ruining one I got a second one and then gave Randy a call. He said to use a piece of 35mm film to make a sort of "ramp" to slide the seal into the bearing. That didn't work for me either.

I ended up replacing the whole bearing with seal.

If I remember right the seal was dang near $20 and the bearing and seal were a touch over $30.

Yep. I have a seal somewhere here. I've not tried putting it in a regular 6203 bearing. I may eventually do it.

Both Husqvarna and Stihl make special sleeves for installing seals on the PTO side, I have some from each and they do work slick. If you're going to do much work on the type of saw you're dealing with, probably worth the few extra bucks when you place your order.
One example.

Edit; I have had some luck greasing seal and shaft shoulder up like a pig at a catching contest, then applying even pressure getting it to slip over. Not 100% though.
