I had a bunch of Walmart stuff last year. I had to cut it with fuel oil once it hit around 20°.
At -10 I could've cut with a scissors.

No way will you catch me outside cutting if it's 20. You'll seriously be doing good if you catch me out there when it gets much below 40.

But, I don't burn much wood. I cut when I've got time in the summer and all my wood is for campfires or to sell. I don't NEED to cut wood.

When the highest gas bill we ever had was $175 a month and I'd burn at least 1 1/2 cords of wood a month which I sell for $200...... Yea, I'll keep the gas on and not worry about my bar oil.

40 is t shirt weather while cutting wood...

Might almost be too warm to start a saw at the gtg :)

Welcome! What's your name? Who ports your saws?

I do my own port work. Always looking for that optimum blend of torque and rpm... I find with limbing saws they don't need any torque. Build'em as high rpm screamers (can't have low quality bar oil creating too much friction). Sometimes though I just drill out the muffler and crank the H screw in as far as the limiter allows. Yeah I blow up a few saws every now and then but whats $100 for a new kit when I'm saving 10 even 15 seconds per tree when limbing?!? That kind of time savings just can't be ignored come firewood season.

Been Building quite a reputation among my buddies. Figured it's time to promote myself on these starter forums before I print up some stickers and hit the big time (AS).

have you tried used motor oil as bar lube yet? It soaks the wood so it burns better at the same time, works even better when trying to get old power poles to get going when used for firewood.

I quit burning hydro poles. I think the hydro companies are onto me.

I'm now burning railroad ties. They are easier to pull from underneath tracks at night.

I don't need to worry about downed power lines after I drop a pole either anymore.

I prefer two stroke mix.

I don't need to constantly worry about putting oil in my gas tank then.

It's really cool when you hit a nail or piece of metal with your chain.

I've found the neighbors start snooping around and poasting pics online of my woodpile if I have too many rr ties.

I like to follow around the tree trimming crews and take the wood they leave along the road...it doesn't belong to anyone if it's just sitting there you know.
