Iam here now. Just tooka tour of a private school that were thinking about sending my kids to next year. The public schools here now have degraded in to crap and are in a constant cycle of standardize testing and preparing for them. And well the kids, most dont have a fighting chance with these chitty parents now a days.

We are extremely fortunate to live in the area where we are. Our public school system is phenomenal. The teachers all do a great job and for the most part the parents care about their kids and the school.
Granted this is our local school system. The others all around us suck for the most part.

I grew up going to a private school. I hated every second of it. A majority of the kids there were spoiled brats. Absolute POS kids and for the most part the teachers could care less about their students.

Anyone want to start driving the highways around the Midwest looking for a missing truck???

We ordered a piece of equipment and it shipped out of Kansas on Tuesday and was supposed to be delivered on Thursday.

Well, no delivery... No one can get ahold of the driver. The owner of the company tried to get in contact with the dudes wife and she hasn't heard from him either....

So somewhere between Kansas and us is a truck with $150,000 worth of cargo.....

State funding for schools here have been gutted with this crappy tax cut plan hashed up to boost the economy that has fail. Also the school dont want to single out problem kids it males everything worse. Maybe if I lived in a rich part of town it be different but looking at one school it was 13k a year for both boys. But talking to the teachers and watching the students it was great.

Wayne we have found that evwn in the worst schools you can still get a great education. It takes work and patent involvement but it can be done. The best thing you can do for your kids is to spend some time volunteering at the school or with after school activities. Teachers recognize which parents arw involved and will work extra hard to make sure their kids get a good education.
Even if you have to take some time off work to do it you would still be way further ahead than payong $13K for private school.

Ive tried whats really pushing us in this direction is when a 10 year old hates going to school because of the environment and the school it self is stuck on a cycle of trying to math and reading scores up thats all they study. This was jist one option we have were still looking at. We have three districts that surround the city were looking to transfer too it was just this school was the closest. And Topeka is a *f-wording tweaker haven as soon as my wife finishes her masters were out.

When my kids didn't want to go to school because of math and reading, I broke my foot off in their asses. Different approach, I guess. It worked though. One is a high school teacher with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, one is a dental hygienist, and one is going into plastics engineering.

They ain't running from the work its from all the *s-word head kids in there class its unreal. The math and reading partnis what bothers me because there more to learn. These schools hear just want to look good with high test scores. Thats what is getting me fired up. When we get home my kids hit the books and I have them do extra.
