I dont have a smoker yet, but ill throw some chunks in an pan off to the side of the grill to add some smoke. Any you fellas running any electric smokers? Recommendations?

Masterbuilt. Like above, they make Cajun injector brand as well. They make a 30"'and a 40". I've got a 40. Meat probe, glass door, remote control. A handful of chips lasts 4ish hours

What's the secret to logging onto SH? My phone status bar creeps up about 1/4" and quits. 10 seconds later it says no internet.

Pm me the IP address you're using and I'll forward it to the server guy. He's been pretty good about getting stuff figured out.

The one like the Masterbuilt or Cajun Injector has a time and thermostat, set it and forget it. Shuts off when done if you are not around. My neighbor has a Bradley like you are talking about with the hockey pucks that you have to BUY. It is not a set and forget.

10 years ago for a wedding present Lisa got me a Char-griller grill and smoke box. I used the crap out of that thing but I was never happy with how it smoked. I'd get huge temp spikes when I added wood and it'd drop real low after that. After about 4 years I burned that grill/smoker out and got out of smoking.

Two years ago my father in law let me borrow a gas smoker, it held temps better than my Char-griller and I didn't have to babysit it as much, but the flavor wasn't as good with chips as it is on a side box smoker burning straight wood.

For indirect grilling I have a basket like Brad posted for my kettle grill. It works great, but for grilling/smoking for a family I usually do rather large portions of meat so there is leftovers.
I personally won't be using a electric or gas smoker anymore, mine holds great temps for a good 4 hours and that's good enough for me.

Roger to all that. IME, Bradleys are a pita. Pucks are rather expensive and the smoker feeds itself about 5 of them per hour. I throw a couple handfuls in mine and I'm good for 6 or 8 hours. The remote is badass. Tells you how much time is left, meat temp, smoker temp, and allows you to change the time or temp from the lazy boy.
