That sure is a nice little building Brian. You need a bandsaw.
If i can build one on the cheap i will get one ,i do not want to dump 4-8k into one though ,my chainsaw mill is actually pretty quick for what it is ,i do lose a board or so per log though in sawdust waste

Most people don't realize that boom lifts used to also be rated for lifting loads: they aren't anymore, and if you even mention it, folks loose there chit.
My 02 genie has the "crane" option. The basket comes off by pulling one pin and tilting the jib boom. A lift hook attaches in its place. Didn't realize that they aren't rated for lifting anymore.

Do you kiln dry your boards Brian?

Friday night I took down a 42" black walnut tree for a buddy. He took the trunk to a guy with a band saw to get milled down for a bar top

How would he go about drying the boards without a kiln?

The guy i got that from used to extend the boom all the way out and do donuts like a ride at the fair ,never tipped over ,that was not for me though ,it had at least 2 of the tires on the ground during the spins . the newer machines shut down i guess if not clicked in the harness ,or if angle is too steep .that one was a 99 year ,i sold it when house was done ,was handy ,wish i had it still sometimes .

Works good for setting truss' also ,it lifts 2 at a time fully extended ,has ground controls ,not sure if i would want to be in the bucket doing the lifting ,that building was lifting the back tires off the ground .

Does it have out-riggers? A buddy of mine had a jcb that boomed out about 25' with out-riggers. Got rid of it and upgraded to a newer one. Goes out 15' with no out-riggers. It's almost worthless as a boom.

Nice shed

put them in a barn or garage and let it dry naturally ,if can stack several boards with stickers for weight helps a lot ,do not finish cut the ends till it is dry in case they crack some ,i never kiln dry ,i did some fir for a covered porch it was all stable in the garage ,i think in 3-4 weeks it was pretty dry ,this is some fir i milled and planed ,the 6x12 beams are rough cut with the 660 right off the millhouse 7-3-14 003.JPG house 7-3-14 005.JPG

Stickers on them now say don't use for lifting: the ones I've seen, anyway.

I'll try to remember to take a picture tomorrow.

I remember the old 60ft Snorkels, ( I think), were rated for either 1500 or 2000lbs all the way retracted.

Mill up those trees and frame up a wooden cabin .
nobody in our camp has a mill. we also can't build a wooded structure there.

I want that pine for cants. Can you ship them to me Rick?
Those are gonna be some expensive cants after shipping.lol
