Does that mean you'll always have a fire truck in the driveway on stand by?
Doubt she will drive the trucks.
Our department says that everyone on the force needs to be fire trained AND EMT trained.
There was a time that all the guys who signed up only took the "Bad Ass Fire Training" so they could only take fire calls. There was a point where only a few guys were able to take medical calls which are over 80% of the calls. So they changed it that everyone needs to be Fire and EMT certified.
Lisa was the exception, she has no interest in doing actual fire calls. She physically can't do it with her ankle that she screwed up last year. There is no way she will be able to pass the academy.
But being a nurse the department will be saving a ton of money by not having to put her through EMT school. It looks like there are very short courses available for RN to EMT. There is actually a class in Vegas that she is looking at attending, she thinks its during SHOT show.
