Convinced my dad to get out of the house today and help me on the landing. He removed the snow while I marked all the logs. Then we both bucked them up. Always appreciate my dad coming over to help - he enjoys it a lot once he gets out there.

This place is amusing.
There's a million threads on what brand of oil and how much extra oil do I need to put in my string trimmer.
Then there's a bunch of threads with people saying how changing oil in your truck is just a scam created by big oil companies.
Take every extra precaution with that $100 piece of garden equipment but who cares about the multi thousand dollar vehicle.

I used to know someone who only changed his oil once every 100,000 miles. But every 5,000 miles he'd spin a new filter on and top off the crankcase. His last new vehicle before cancer got him, had well over 400,000 miles on it. S10 with a 4.3 V6. I saw him haul & pull stuff with that little truck, some guys wouldn't do with a 3/4-ton. He always preached it's about keeping the oil clean, not changing it all the time.

He was a tad bit crazy thou. I saw him haul home two 40' sea containers (separately) with that little S10. He had a 20' flatbed trailer under the front of the container hooked to his S10, and a dolly he built under the rear of the container. He hauled them home about 150 miles. Then he brought home a huge steel & pea gravel canopy from over the gas pumps at a closed gas station about 100 miles away, with his trailer and dolly, that became the roof of his new shop on the two sea containers. I offered to help him with my 1-ton & 40' flatbed trailer. He just smiled and said hold my beer. When he scrapped a bunch of his stuff, the loads he hauled with that S10 made me stay off the same road he was going to be on. Two trailers in tandem behind that little S10.

His oil change schedule seemed to work for him. I like to sleep at night. My trucks get their oil changed every 3-4 thousand miles. Depending on if stop & go, or if they had primarly highway driving that go around.

i grew up in something like that

Looks about like the south side of my place. Used to be 150 plus here. Last time I counted a few months ago there was still 49.

I'd like it to be 2, my two dailys. If scrap was higher they would of been gone 6 months ago.

I love junk yards 🥰
i grew up right at the middle of my uncles junkyard until i was 12
learned mechanics from the mechanics that worked on the big trucks and such
helped crush cars in the summer and got to play with copperheads and snapping turtles

Good point, though, he might prefer hemorrhoid asses these days.
