I have an 360 mated to a 5 speed with granny gear that I've considered using instead of the 460 as well. I've got 3 of these old Bullnose Fords F350s, so rather than mess with my small block truck, I'll probably build a different truck although. Some of the 78/79 ford 3/4 tons had a 400M and 351 m the hogshead/bellhousing should work (many were 4spds) the ones I am familiar with are 4x4 and they hook up to 429s and 460. I would check if the 351 M flywheel will be balanced to work on a 460.
Also watch that the valves and seats can handle this unleaded gas now days. 1975 will but 71s' won't just a detail to consider.
Your Windsor (if it is oem to the truck) will have a different gearing for the trans than a 300 six / 6.9 diesel or the 400/460 gas
different torque rpm band and shifting ratios. Most of the F250 3/4 ton Big block ran 3:73 to 1 and F350s 4:11 The F250 3/4 towing package went with 4:11s. Your small block winds up higher so gear ratio could be something that could Bite You in the Arse.
You need to verify what I am saying for your own peace of mind.
I'm considering booting him outta here....for his own good. You really need to stop listening to

That's what I'm gonna buy. Too many Americans are obsessed with giant unnecessary ugly cars like this: View attachment 408064
And, waaay too many guys drive trucks to do nothing but cart the kids around and pick up groceries. Kind of like mall crawlers.
You oughta know if you take the runt away from the litter of piggies another will take its' place.I'm considering booting him outta here....for his own good.
No. I just wish the US auto market was more friendly towards the smaller trucks. I either want a Kei truck or a Ford Ranger. I know all of y'all on this website probably use your trucks for what they were made for, most people here don't.Are you disgruntled (upset) because Mom hauls you around in a SUV??
I don't like small cars or trucks, I had a small truck late 90's for about a week. By the time I got to work, my legs and knees were all cramped up from being jammed against the dash board. I sold it and went back to a full size, zero problems. I need something with leg room, so I buy full size, and I haul plenty of stuff not just groceries.
