I'm not sure if it's the marlboros or the miller in my veins they are after, but them things love me, last time I was in a area with ticks, I pulled 21 or 22 off me at the end of the day. Thankfully where I live now, there's hardly any of them, might see one or two a year.

I have 19 guinea hens that are supposed to gobble them down. I still get one occasionally, they even eat them off the goats. Trust me, you don't want guineas, they are a pain in the arse!

Eggs are great though...

I have no idea how the ticks moved north so fast or what can be done, but they’re creating lots of problems with Lyme disease up here. I’m getting blood work done within next couple weeks for Lyme disease

The mild winter this past year is only going to make it worse. Soak everything in permethrin and wear lots of picaridin.

Lyme disease is serious. I hope everything turns out ok.

For controlled burns do you guys just need perfect conditions? Never have done one or understood how they’re kept under control. I’d suspect very light wind, a little moisture in the ground but slightly dry to the top, and start the burn on the side of the field the the winds coming from to push it to the other side? And walk with it to make sure it doesn’t spread to unwanted areas?
Just about right. It totally depends on the area we are burning, but this particular spot has a very narrow window of time each spring to get it done - the sun dries this hillside so quickly that if we wait too long, we risk the fire spreading into the surrounding woods. So we always try to catch it a day or 2 after the snow melts off, that way there’s still too much moisture in the woods for that to catch. Whenever possible, always burn from the too of the hill down to the bottom - the fire burns longer and you get a better burn that way. Lighting at the bottom and letting it go uphill on its own also burns, but not as thoroughly. Same with flat land - if the breeze, slight wind, is west to east, light the fire on the east side and let it burn against the wind slowing it down and keeping it in control.

Got a 2" straight bit in the Porter Cable 3 1/4 HP router. Gonna let some chips flyView attachment 374474

Years back when I was still on the cord, I had one of them with handles, with a big hog bit just for windows and doors. I'd wall a whole room out, then grab the big router and cut out everything at once.

I set it down, threw a piece of scrap, it bounced and hit the router right on the switch, thing stood up on the bit and started running around the room, it was quite chit show, I did not get the 6 way in time, router grabbed the cord, and wrapped itself up in the cord, still trying to dancing all over. Totally trashed the cord. It was rather funny to watch.
