Went to the county courthouse....paid land taxes on 35 acres, three barns, and a house. Grand total....just under 600.00

That's pretty amazing - taxes here on my .2 acre plot and 3-bedroom house - $2,665.00.

I have .5 acre lot 3 bedrooms. Our taxes are about 3,400.00 a year

I would imagine counties “up north” here are more likely to need/spend more money for snow removal, etc. It costs a small fortune for the salt, plows, maintenance, and all the man hours to keep the roads open 4-5 months out of the year..

I live in the 6th poorest county in Tennessee. That's the biggest reason taxes are so low here.
