I had a good laugh the other day.
The area where my dad lives, was hit with a ice storm, I called to check in on him, no power for 48 hours. No workie natural gas furnace without power. He said it was 37° in his house, and he was wrapped up in 4 blankets, trying to stay warm. His garage door was frozen shut, so he could not even back his car out in the drive and warm up some.
He's always on my case, to get in the next century, get hooked up to natural gas or propane, instead of living like a caveman and burning firewood.
Holy sheet did I laugh. He was not happy I was laughing. I think he finally understood, why I like my wood stove.
We had an ice storm here a few years ago. No power for 11 days. We cooked on our wood stove and kept our elderly neighbors fed. The same neighbors who had told us we were crazy for heating our house with that dirty dusty wood stove.
