When I started here all of the rads and heater cores were copper/brass. Those could be repaired. Then everything went aluminum. Back then even the aluminum was allowed to be braze repaired. Now everything is so chincy in the name of weight and material savings that any leak or defect in-process and they're scrap. Doesn't give much confidence in the longevity regardless of the material.when they went to plastic side caps they made it where they sell more of them because of the hot and cold cycles of the plastic
