Pretty similar.
I like to cut em into smaller pieces, 3; one from below the midline and two from above. Dry, dip in flour, egg, then panko breadcrumbs. Then shallow fry til golden.
Daughter is gluten and dairy intolerant tho, so cut, dried and panfried in butter with Moroccan spice often wins out.
You can't cook fresh fish badly can you?

Rice flour and GF Panko, problem solved… If you can’t get the GF Panko down there let me know and I’ll send you some.

I know you would Gaz. We're still finding our way thru all the complications. She's not coeliac(sp) so it's not a matter of life or death or anything but I prefer not to deliberately make my kids feel unwell ay.

Do you feed them raisins
Wife takes a handful or more out with her and they go nuts over them

Sent from Hoskey Hills
I’ll try giving them raisens lol. So far I’ve found they go crazy for tuna and spam ham, any meat really
I'll have to try that, they usually don't lay much in the winter.

They are definitely fun to have around. Low maintenance too. I had a rooster for a while, and while he was hilarious, he was also a PITA. Hens are much easier.
we have a rooster too. Orpington. Now I raised a batch of chicks and a hand picked him out of the roos 5 I ended up with, others except 1 went to the freezer. The rooster I’m left with is good, friendly, never gave me trouble. Can walk right up to it and pick ‘em up. He’s not a dik to the hens either. Big win. Lots of evil roosters lol

Eggs is something I COULD get behind, except for the fact that Bosslady cant deal with the birds.
More importantly, she cant deal with the feathers.
Freak her out apparently.
The feathers lol. I can’t say I understand that phobia
The biggest downer with chickens is just the poop bombs all over the yard if they free range. You will track chicken *s-word everywhere so definitely don’t walk into your house with outside shoes on lol

They are easy to take care of. Each one lays an egg per day in the summer. They don't lay a whole lot in the wintertime but they handle the cold weather just fine. I do wrap the pen with 4 mil plastic in the winter to keep the wind off of them. Build a good coop and pen one time and the work involved in caring for them is minimal. I clean mine out completely maybe three or 4 times a year, I add straw or wood chips maybe every couple weeks. Raccoons and hawks are the biggest predators. My coop is pretty well sealed so I haven't had many issues with them but there were a few raccoons that slipped in once. 50 pound bag of food lasts about 6-8 weeks and costs about $20. Eggs are definitely better than store bought, they are less bland. I enjoy sitting on the back porch and watching them and when family visits with their kids, they love going and getting eggs and chasing them around the yard.

I use chainsaw wood chips for nesting and coop material, get a chuck of firewood and cut the grain vertical get the nice long stringy pieces they make good nesting material the hens love that. Free too, I see tons of people shelling out good money for bagged wood chips

You got lucky, we tries RI red, black Australorp, and some other cross. All wanted to be a dik to the wife. I played soccer as a lad, so they learned to leave me alone pretty quick.

Ours have a fenced area they share with the guineas, who fly out regularly. It abuts the garden, and after we are done in the garden, we open it up for them. They tear it up for me and fertilize it. Close it back up late winter, till in the spring. Works for us. Keeps the chicken chit out of the back yard and house. Shoes are left in the sun porch, two boot brushes on the way back to the house. Like an airlock, but for poop.

Good late morning all. Going to be a lazy day for me today.
If you wanna see lazy today and a bunch o’ damn nuthin’ get accomplished at warp speed, take a trip to 100 Slackass Way in Grafton and you’ll get it with both barrels from the ringleader himself.
