Lucky for my parents I loved cutting the grass. Had me on a ride on mower by the age of 7. I looked forward to cutting the grass every Saturday at my place, then I’d spend Sunday at my gramps and I’d cut his grass too. I’d break out the hedge clippers, and push mowers for stuff that couldn’t be hit with the little lawn tractor. Looking back it makes sense why I got into forestry sort of related I guess… cutting vegetation

Nice! Our trails are open here. As of yesterday the groomer was stuck on a hairpin corner on a hill road after a track broke. Some of the guys from the club were going to try and get it repaired after dark yesterday... My sled is in the garage waiting for a quick greasin’ and look over. My wife has had her sled out a couple times giving our boys rides around the yard.

I just hope to get some miles on this year. I always “aim” for about 1000 miles of trail riding, but don’t get worked up if it doesn’t happen. Last year I put on 14 miles and then it was parked due to my broken foot..
Sounds like my dirt bike. Don't ride it enough to really keep it, but won't be able to ride it at all if I sell it.

, giving handy's at the bus stop,

Used my dish pan hands to mow the lawns then dump the oil and filter on Mrs Kiwis Honda. You snow belters would just cry at the lack of rust underneath that 12 year old car so no pics coz I'm not a prick.
Having lived previously in the salt to tinworm belt, I am amazed at the lack of rust around my new home. There are rusty vehicles, only due to trying to rust them out. Or because they are 40 years old.

Your dad sounds sorta like my dad.

Dad caught me using his lawn mower to cut one of the neighbor's yards. He took half the money I made, and told me to get my own mower if I wanted to do that stuff.

I sold a few bikes that I'd cobbled together and bought one. I was 8 at the time.
Sounds familiar.
Always told me to get out and get my own.
Now hes mad cause I wont sell the place that my wife and I literally bled to keep and make what it is now for the last 20 years and move home to be his "farmhand".
Dont get me wrong. I love my folks, and I'll help do whatever I can.
They just have to understand that I'm doing as I was asked, as I was taught.
I'm proud that I was taught that way, as I dont ask for anything more than what ive worked for.

@maulhead what are you riding theses days? The more we live here the more the buzz of sleds going by has me wondering if Tvwould actually divorce me or not…

@stihl livin get enough snow to get yours out and ready to sell?

A few skidoo summits that are almost 20 years old. New ones cost too much money for my taste.

My brother is as far south on the Baja peninsula as you can get......sent me this today to rub it in.

We have enough snow but this last round was so light and fluffy that imho there is not enough to ride. Being so flat and open most trails don’t have much on then. With the warm up starting Tuesday I will probably start seeing dirt showing on the trails again

The neighbours have been going all day the last couple. Their 14 yr old and one of his buddies only stopping long enough to gas up and eat and then off again. Dad joins for a couple rides each day too.

I bought my 1st when I was 13, with my own earnings, raking leafs, mowing grass, shoveling snow, giving handy's at the bus stop, while waiting for the school bus in the morning.

I told my Dad I wanted my own sled, he said great get your ass to work, I have 9 mouths to feed in this house.

I can't imagine my life without one.

When I was 15 I saved my nickels from the very part time job I had and bought a Yamaha VMax-4... I quickly realized it was way too much sled for me, and sold it for more than I paid for it. A week later I bought a ‘97 ZR 440 and I never looked back... I have been riding since I can remember, my dad and uncles toting me around on old Scorpions, Cat’s and Ski-Doo’s since I was about 3 or so. At 5 years old I started driving them, an Arctic Cat Lynx 2000T. Been hooked ever since! Now my 6 year old is riding a Lynx that’s identical, but a year newer (long story short, was my wife’s sled she grew up on as a kid that I bought from someone else without knowing it until we connected the dots!)

Exactly! Whenever I get a thought about selling a toy like that, I ask myself, “Can I afford to replace it?” Sure I could sell it, but what would it cost to buy it again...? Better off keeping them around IMO. Especially when they’re paid for.
