Changed a wire rope on a hoist today.
Not bad on these little guys. 5/16" diameter rope. 365' length.
Just put the lower block down, disconnect the mechanical limit switch to keep it from getting out of time, run the rope off, splice it to the new one, and pull the new one through the sheaves.
Connect the new one to the drum, bring it up to the point you marked and reconnect the mechanical limit, and done.
Then clean up all that greasy arse old rope.
