Dad worked for the co-op(Jackson EMC) for 36 years Chris.
Started out on ROW crew back when they did it in house.
Worked up through JL, Lineman etc.
Retired as a service guy.

Alright, I’ll take the Makita battery blower over to clean it up. Not a busy road but a bunch of kids on bikes. He is on the straight right after the curve but did the ditches on both sides so at some point his back was to the curve and he blew on to the road from both sides. Simply too lazy to deadhead to the far end and then back with the discharge in to the ditch.

lol complaining about how someone else mows is kinda dumb especially if dont know circumstances
the road i live on i will blow the grass into the road because the NOPEs run 50 plus miles per hour in a 30 zone and one time i didnt blow into the road a NOPE missed me by inches
a *f-wording straight the whole way through


right now im dealing with the state road and gonna piss off a neighbor that thinks he is better than everyone else
years ago he filled in a ditch the state had put in years ago
now every time it rains he call state road to have them clear my side to the point im not gonna be able to access my lower yard
the is also a old concrete culvert about halfway down my property the state put in years ago with grade showing it drained to his side but now its clogged because of his *f-wordtardism

so i called the state office today after they dug my side out more
i will get the ditch done on his side or i will be filling my side above road level
state road foreman came out today and neighbor *f-word told him they didnt clear it deep enough
at one spot its damn near 3 feet deep
the state road guy said its only supposed to be 12 to 16 inches max

so trying to be boss of property that doesnt belong to you will piss others off until they take things into their own hands and make your life miserable
so there will be a ditch reinstalled on his side of his yard or there will be a pigpen built and pigs put in my lower yard
i give zero *f-words if i piss them off
dealt with his *s-word for too many years


after he filled in the ditch on his side when water would stand on my side because there is a hump at the end of my lower yard he called the dnr about mosquitos because of the standing water trying to get me in trouble because of his *f-wording ignorance

i gave his brother in law fair warning what was gonna happen if the *f-wordtard neighbor pissed me off and that happened today
now its time for me to make his life miserable

Maybe he doesnt realise it, or maybe doesnt care.
Either way, your good faith gesture might make him realise his error or maybe he doesnt care, but you are doing the right thing to step up and fix it.
If the road isnt busy, I'll get the mower up there and blow some of the grass clippings back out of the road.
Usually too busy for that, but I try.
Cant even remember the number of wrecks out there, but they have gone as far as completely severing one of the power line poles that sit on the road frontage.
Hit with so much force that I still see splinters from the pole over 30 meters into our woods.
The utility company left the nearly 2 meter section of the pole that they broke off for me to clean up.

Tuesday morning an 8 year old and 10 year old were walking to school on the first day. The 8 year old grabbed onto an energized fence from a wire laying on it a few houses down and was electrocuted. The area was taped off Monday night but someone took the tape down and the kids walked through there. I got called off another job to shut the line down so the first responders could get him off the fence. So its been a *s-wordty week and i’m tired.

today while they was doing the ditches a car hit the end loader of the states
so theres another reason i dont worry about blowing grass into the road

We worked out a deal when we first moved here in 2004 with the folks that pick up our garbage.
Since we live on the corner, they come down the front driveway and pick up the trash, then drive on out and go on their way down the side road. We have driveways on main road and side road that just go around the back of the house.
Next door neighbor that shares the entrance at the main road and his driveway forks off from there uses a different waste service that requires him to put his trash can out at the road.
Most waste disposal companies here now only have one guy on a truck that has an arm to dump the can. No second guy to grab it and dump in the back of the truck.
He tried settimg his garbage can next to the road.
Theres not enough shoulder there, so of course someone whacked it and there was garbage strewn all across our front area. He had to go clean it up before they would come back, and now they pull down the front driveway, pick it up, and turn around on our front lawn area next to the main road.
I'm ok with it.
They dont make a mess.

my upper yard is where my uncles driveway is and then a bridge probably about 1/8 mile straight so they don’t care the speed
We moved here in 86 and it has gotten bad especially when walcult opened 20 years ago or so

That sucks Chris.
Dad had something similar happen years ago.
Most folks dont realise how much voltage is in a distribution power line.
7,200 volts or probably more now.
On top of that, they are set up with circuit breakers and auto reclosers that pulse full voltage and current to clear "obstructions" like random tree limbs that fall on a line.
If anybody has ever had their lights go out, then back on, that was the auto recloser trying to clear whatever load was on the line.
Usually 3 times it tries before the breaker stays open.
Not a good thing when that load it sees is a person.

Not a damn thing you could have done to keep it from happening.
Ive watched people openly walk under red "DANGER DO NOT ENTER" tape that I put up while working on a crane that was almost ready to fall from its runway.
They have no concept or understanding of what it means, in spite of what would seem to be a universally understood warning.
