My work vehicle, GMC Savannah, lives at my house. I am a remote employee, and only get to the office to re-supply. It is one of the perks, that and not having to drive to work. Clock starts when I pull out of the driveway. Turn off when I pull in. On call sucks though, can never start to do anything, there is always an emergency watching you, waiting for it. If you do nothing but wait. It never comes.

The young guys want the hours. They take my on call sometimes. Not lately though as we have been crazy busy, so they get the hours they want. Not a problem, as I can't do anything else right now anyway.

Be careful out there.

Larry

We are compensated for the week of standby. I convert all mine to time off.
There’s nine of us. So I only have to do it once every nine weeks. Nothing funner than a sewer call at 10:00 o’clock at night. Doesn’t happen that often though. But I hear ya on the sitting around waiting for the phone to ring.

Ours is a different system again. Because each station must be manned we have to have a pre-arranged cover person for days, and same for nights. Usually rotate two of one, then a few weeks later, two of the other, 8 to 10 person team. We get an hours "phone time" paid per standby, and travel each way plus the 12hrs that you're at work should the phone ring, all at overtime rate. It complicates your time off waiting for the call, but once the relevant 730 has passed you at least know you're free for that 12 hr period, or working it.

No Chebby or other company wagon tho. There is a mileage rate for travel on company time, but its not keeping up with real costs at the moment.

Tore some tendons in my left wrist. My physical therapy Dr. Said I can not use it and take anti inflammation meds. And it should heal, or I can have surgery. Same time to recover. I am right handed, so will just limit its use.

Tried to switch hands and gain a stroke. Failed! Lol

Yup, same here, with an on call stipend. In addition to all after hours is overtime.

Only five of us for now. As we grow our branch, we will be adding people, if we can find any!

At least there are right person rotation, if I understand correctly. My boss can't get rid of anybody without a mutiny. He understand us old fuggers might just stop. We seem to keep getting busier.

Not good! Thankfully nobody got hurt.

We used corral panels to catch her.....then set two posts and bolted the head gate to it. The head gate wasn't big enough for her, and didn't lock. Once that happened, there wasn't no getting her back in the chute.

I got another head gate that is more adjustable to use for our next attempt.

Dropped a few hundred bucks and lost a days work. Probably lose another day tomorrow.....
