We haven't had any converter thefts.
Most if the GM stuff, the converter is a pain in the ass to get out on a hoist and in unfriendly spots. Not the easiest to steal.
I've heard of guy's running plate steel across their converter's.
I really don't know how much they bring
I have two to take in.

That guide only gets replaced due to the cam timing chain becoming loose and rubbing on it, therefore wearing a groove in the side of it.
I have no idea who manufactured the chain. Likely some farmer in a mud hut with only rocks and sticks as tools.
Actually, he could probably make a better quality product, so strike that.

You don't do the balance shaft chain kit anytime you do a primary kit?

GM doesn't offer a kit for the water pump/balance shafts. It's piece by piece.
It gets a chain, tensioner and any guides with damage. If the guides look OK, they stay. I'm probably creeping up on 1000 of them with no issues after.

Sixty new mechanic hires this morning, busted into two gaggles of about 30 each getting toured and strolling through the hangar floors at the moment. And they some young wimminzes in both groups. Yee-high...mount up boyz!

Now remember you're old enough to be their dad lol.

I went to one yard yesterday and they told me they'd dive me 15 bucks because they don't want to deal with them. WTF?

Did they want you to supply more of them?

We have real stupid in house warranties here so we really have to play cover your azz so we don't have to redo it for free if it fails.

Also told me they would need to see the title of the car it came from.

Now what gets me is if every yard around here does this then who the hell is buying them from the methheads?
That's my point
There must be some paying for them
So it'd be worthwhile.
But honestly
My nephew saw the surveillance footage
Of a methhead
At night crawled under remote classrooms.
Double wides basically
Outfitted as classrooms.
He had a hatchet and beat some copper pipe and fittings out
From a 13" crawlspace.
Took him over 5 hour's
To get probably 10-15.00 worth of copper
It was mostly pex except some fittings.
He was covered in blood from tearing that *s-word out.
