When I was racing regularly, I got pretty good at setting up the 9" Ford. Great thing about those is that you get to do it at the bench.

Richmond gears were always a pain in the ass to setup. I used to cringe when a gear change job showed up and a Richmond box was in the trunk

When I was racing regularly, I got pretty good at setting up the 9" Ford. Great thing about those is that you get to do it at the bench.

And have more than one third member set up, if need be, with different ratios.

I'll sum it up. Over complicated and weak if you run larger tires than stock and go off-road. A Detroit locker, ARB locker or any other locker wether fully automatic or air / cable / electrically actuated is a much better option if you play off road. Even the factory ones offered by several OEMs these days.
