lol wtf is powder river basin coal ?
this stuff is local
some plants also have conveyors directly from mine to plant
“Black thunder”. Powder river basin Wyoming. That’s where our coal comes from. It’s really high btu value. But it catches on fire by itself. Airborne like gasoline. Fought many fires

Must be from the bayou
No sir. Comes all the way 120 cars at a time on a train from Wyoming to Louisiana. And we have lots of coal in Louisiana too. I think it was an old grandfathered union railroad mine power agreement to keep folks employed in the 70s

Hahah even burning good stuff we used to get clinkers bad. Had to shoot them with shotguns to get them to fall then rod them in the hoppers. Now we got upgraded burners and haven’t had that problem. And no more shotguns lol

for emergency they still will use shotguns for small areas but usually they use dynamite and usually takes between 100 and 150 shots of it
some of the guys i work with have done the shotguns way back when and said they would burn up a new shotgun after shooting a couple cases of buckshot
i have seen the old shotguns and they have been abused thats for sure

We were working above the main turbine compressor too.
Kinda the heart of the plant. When you pull the plug on that thing while it's WFO, it starts burping, farting, and puking ALL kinds of stuffs apparently.
There was a reddish brown "rain" that fell on the trucks as we were heading out.
Our contact said it would be a good idea to wash the truck, as it was not good for the paint.
Fugg that truck.
I went to the hotel and washed ME.
Without knowing the process Brent all i can say is no design engineer should be allowed to put excess process gas or liquid to atmosphere. That's what the over-pressure or flare header is for. I'm hoping you just got doused in rusty old condensate from the steam side of the turbine, that is allowed to be plumbed to atmosphere normally.
