Yeah, .040" is a little aggressive.:p
I had an 18" bar and a "safety" chain that came with my PM700.
I made it an "unsafety" chain.
Cut off all of the safety bumpers and cut the depth guages down to around .040"-ish.(maybe a wee bit more)
It would chunk pine chips that looked like Chicklets.
It was NOT good for cutting with the top of the bar.:eek:

You're further ahead than me with that cpu r2d2 diesel operation you got going on in your truck. Last computer controlled thing I tuned was an Accel gen7 efi that was on my truck and it wasn't hard. Stuff these days is out of my realm so I stick with carbs
