It sure finds out if one is not quite aligned perfectly or not and saves that scope from being tweeked.

Right. I've never had a set of rings,whether individual or a one piece unit, be perfectly aligned. A quick few swipes of the bar shows whats off and I usually go till I have a nice seat

...then if it's aligned with the bore good, you have a chance at some precision shooting.
