Right. I've never had a set of rings,whether individual or a one piece unit, be perfectly aligned. A quick few swipes of the bar shows whats off and I usually go till I have a nice seat

Redfield rings and bases back in the 70’s and early 80’s rarely needed any lapping. As good as it could get back in those days...still sporting some of their rings and bases on several rifles.
