Good evening fellas. Vacation has started. Brought home most of an ms361 tonight from an Echo dealer when I stopped in for a couple 490 parts. Once I got the damned muffler bolt caps off, I got to see it was straight gassed. Meh, into the future project pile.

They had a real nice looking xl-12 too, with an original homelite case. Wish I knew somebody that could use it dot dot dot.

Well, it appears a corn stalk punctured the sidewall 🤦🏻‍♂️

After not being able to air it up much, I found the puncture. I was at least able to use the jack from the pickup to get enough lift to remove the wheel and tire. I’ll see what the tire shop can do for me tomorrow morning… Pickup currently sitting out in a field overnight isn’t an ideal situation.

You will. Between Dad's, one I had, and an ex's, I can replace them without tearing up my hands most of the time now.
I learned on on the 99 suburban to be gentle they are the lift up like tailgate ones
I would grab the top of the door when it was stuck
I never lock my stuff and even now they have the keys in the ignition

Must be the metrics Michael.😇😇

Other than an Audi TT and a Land Rover (both piles of 💩) that the BOSS bought I haven't bought anything but Toyota products for decades

The Suburban was given or sold to us by her parents when we left for Alaska in 1990 because we had the new daughter and traveling in the old FJ40 Landcruiser was not very feasible

I have seen guys down on the border patch a really bad sidewall and run it forever, sometimes patched and booted and tubed, simply because they had no other option

Nobody ever told them it couldn't be done so they just did it

I haven't seen a tire shop in 30 years that would patch a sidewall under ANY circumstances

My Dad.
Lives an hour plus away. Has to do things his way. He's been putting up this kitset carport for weeks.
I'd have it done in a couple of days, but it causes too much family stress because I don't hextriple check everything 29000 times before realizing that the one drill he wants to use is flat. See the 72 load binders for squaring, leveling and just for Unca Tim, plumbing.
I love him, but we cant work together.
He'll get it done. Hopefully before he dies.

I made fun of those FJ'S growing up as a kid in the late 70's. Sure would love to have one now.
My first new vehicle was a 1976 FJ40 and I sold it in 85 and instantly regretted it and bought a 79 but when we went back to Alaska for good in 1994 we could only ship 1 vehicle and sold it

I would give just about anything to have them back

I think insurance companies/lawsuit risk prevent anyone from repairing sidewalls for hire.
