View from the In-laws place. We hunt the surrounding hills. Tomorrow I get to hike from the house to the top of the hill in the center - about 400 ft in elevation change. And I gotta get there before the drivers start in from up the valley.. Good thing I’m in shape!

Looks similar to the terrain of the 2000ac ranch in NorCal the family used to have. 2000+’ of elevation changes between a dozen ridges and canyons.
Opening day we’d have 50 hunters, all assigned to specific areas for drives. Nobody ever had a problem.
I really miss that place . It took nearly a full day to drive all the “roads”. 4wd, aired down or don’t bother.

Yup, lived in Mesa for 2yrs and got to explore all of that. Spring in the desert after big winter rains was stunning.

It's always really cool to see someone else's dog at work, and it was especially so since it was a young man with his first dachshund, on his first trial.

It was a tough day in the forest physically, all the smells had rained away, so we had to walk and walk and walk until we came across a deer.
But it was worth it.
