It's not gonna be a smooth transition for sure bossman.I'm sure the corporate tax incentives and manufacturing dealings will offset the labor costs. This is all well above my simple mind for sure. But hey, changes are coming so I will wait and see. I'm hoping Harbor Freight and TEMU sites/stores are on their way out and american tool company stores can fill the void as what should of happened many years ago. Just my nickels worth.

This sounds like a "living wage" argument
When labor is scarce, wages rise to encourage a larger labor pool. For a long time, companies have taken the easy way out by offshoring jobs to cheap labor countries to maximize profits. Forcing them to chose to compete on merit with companies trying to startup here, will allow for more startups. You can't compete with a company already established, offshored to a cheap labor market. How do you start from scratch against it?

I'm cool with that.

I was just joking around. I don't know the correct answers for the subject on hand.

Other then a lot of people are lazy anymore, they would rather have chit handed to them, instead of work for it, then they sit around and *b-word when prices of everything are higher. Gee whiz I wonder why.

Maybe if their were some higher paying manufacturing jobs instead of burger flippin minimum wage jobs, people just might want to work again.
That we agree on. And I've been very clear on how I feel about Chinese products. But misleading the people about who will actually be bearing the cost of these tariffs is what I'm against. Over and over I've heard it said that China will pay....but we both know that the American consumer will be the one who pays.

But....enough about that. We are here now, let's see what happens.

You are looking at it simply from a U.S. perspective. The moves abroad are much more complicated than "cheap labor", at least after the 80s.

In the case of my current employer, tarriffs will likely prevent them from sending manufacturing and a whole lot of jobs out of the country. I'm not sure how effective the tarriffs are at causing companies to bring jobs back to the US, but they can definitely help deter companies from moving manufacturing out in the first place.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Snap-On tools are mostly still made in the USA.....as you can imagine, they are quite spendy

True most now have manufacturing in the US and other countries.
Channelock is still based in Meadville, Pa but they too are importing from China.
Danner Boots from the west coast has always sold USA manufactured boots. Sadly they too now are importers of most of their line. And have done so for a handful of years.
I'm anxious to see and hear about his plan and approach.

Snap on, Matco, Cornwell, and Mac still have manufacturing in USA.
Now Stanley who makes alot of cheap tools that the auto parts stores sell including Craftsman are imports.

Redwing is mostly made in the USA. I buy their heritage boots because their hand made here and they last. Nicks boots, same thing made in USA.

I pay a little more for stuff but thats ok its my money and i like to support American jobs. AMERICA FIRST
