Dammit.
High tarriffs encourage companies to not have their products made in cheap labor countries. That is the purpose for the tariffs. Here is the thing on tariffs that is often misunderstood. The manufacturer / Chinese exporter doesn't change his price, they tariffs are levied at the point of import, so the person bringing the goods into the US pays the tariffs, they raise their prices to cover that cost and the American public pay the higher prices for the goods and the US Gov gets a bunch of money to pay the grift to Elon and the others.
The statement that China paid $4 billion dollars in tariffs if a lie, the American public paid the tariffs. Am I against tariffs? I am pro free trade but tariffs do serve a purpose. They greater question is what is that tariff money spent on, the original idea behind it was to use the money to compensate those industries that were harmed by the importation of goods from another country. Unfortunately, few is any countries have transparency as to where this money goes...
Yinz guys are missing it completely. There's something stupid here too.View attachment 439275View attachment 439276
You misunderstood the reasons for the tariffs. That's absolutely right Gary.
We think we are protecting the nation by placing extra tariffs on an import, we do so if there is a similar product in the country at the same or lower price.
If there is none, it is the common man in the street who pays the tariff when he needs the product.
Fuggin eh!America shouldn’t have to buy anything from china
Yeah...that's fairly elementary.High tarriffs encourage companies to not have their products made in cheap labor countries. That is the purpose for the tariffs.
Actually, if the cost is the same as making it here, then you make it here to save on shipping. Costs will go up. But so will quality. Do we not buy the best goods we can afford? Maybe we can wean the American people off cheap rubber dog poop from china.Yeah...that's fairly elementary.
So, the production now moves to a higher cost labor country.
Prices will skyrocket.
Who will we blame?
How will quality go up? We can't find people who want to work in this country now. Good luck filling millions more jobs that require any level of skill beyond flipping a burger.Actually, if the cost is the same as making it here, then you make it here to save on shipping. I'm cool with that.I'm just going to blame you, since you herd all the cats.
Pandas are on loan to us. They are not rented or sold.Where would we get panda bears then?
Maybe if their were some higher paying manufacturing jobs instead of burger flippin minimum wage jobs, people just might want to work again. How will quality go up? Low hanging fruit? @KiwioilboilerGot 6" last night, with another 4" expected tonight.
More Friday & Saturday, but 60° on Sunday and Monday so it's not here to stay.
This sounds like a "living wage" argumentMaybe if their were some higher paying manufacturing jobs instead of burger flippin minimum wage jobs, people just might want to work again.
