Yes, it was worth it. Like timg said, it would be really hard for me to ever lose money on it considering scrap value and all the modifications like the wheels, hood, and bed cover which I would keep or sell if I scrapped the truck, amongst other things.

Scrap prices have been in the toilet for the last several years, nation wide.

I watch prices monthly, as I have a butt load of scrap iron, here at my place. But I won't haul it just to break even on transport cost.

That truck would pay $500-550 here right now at current scrap prices.

Do the math....

Plus I’ve got custom wheels, a very heavy duty bed cover, an aftermarket hood, etc… all of which are worth good money. Also, scrap prices must be a bit lower where you are.

None of that aftermarket stuff, would equal enough money on the open market.

I've been at the buy & sell, game a long time.

Right now, the custom wheels and really good tires, bed cover, and hood alone are worth the $900. Have you seen the prices of new tires and custom wheels. Scrap value with bad tires in the future plus selling the wheels, hood, and bed cover, I bet I could get all my money back.
Did you just eat ice cream?
I do prefer ice cream.

Yes sir, good eyes on that. Weird it is shaded in the basecoat but the clear coat looks ok. Would the black vinyl pigment leach into the base/clear coat like that? It wasn't that jacked beforehand? It's been on there for 5 years approx. though.
I have seen vinyl racing stripes do that so I guess leaching is possible

What year is the car?

Makers have been dropping the thickness of the clearcoat year after year to some absolutely insane thin measurements and this has to have some long term effects

I have only worked on a couple of Hyundais and as I remember the paint is typically Asian, on the softer side of the spectrum

I really wish I was there and could assess the paint in person

Clear coat failure can look similar to that and I hope that's not what has taken place

I would love to decon the paint, clay it, and hit it with a superfine finishing polish and see what happens, and then make adjustments in product, pad, and process to try and even it out

I wouldn't be using a pole saw from underneath the tree. You really think I am retarded, don't you?
15 year's ago my brother and his hateful wife with my 4 little niece's and nephews
bought a house with 5 acres of dying ash tree's
Some were snapped off hanging in other tree's
I cut all those out and they've never stepped foot in any of those wood's
Just let it rot.
