Ken if you want to try a good fish fry go to either house of Coates the stein haus or philanders.
Might have to give then a try for some date night meals.

The place we tried has what I'll call commercial fish wedges, that had heavy breading, with thin pieces of fish. We won't be back for the fish, but some of their other offerings are OK, for a feedbag setup.

We have been spoiled with our home cooking. We frequently do a pan fry (very little oil or shorten needed) or will oven bake/broil.

We have had decent luck with what the Tavern does for their Monday special. They bread the fish in house, and will allow special requests on the way stuff is prepped for cooking. We know those folks fairly well and they get it done right.

Morning boys. Gout showed up in my other foot the last couple days. (Karma from picking on Randy I’d guess) I’ll probably hobble around and boil more sap.

I’ve never experienced gout, but know a couple people with it. No bueno. Do you know what triggers it? One of my friends gets a flare up if he drinks beer.

Beer can definitely be a factor. I had two last weekend and none since so I don’t think that has much to do with it.
High uric acid levels is the problem. A google search says any food with high purines can contribute, which is basically everything.
I drink cherry juice every day to try to keep it under control. I’m trying to drink more water.

I went through issues with gout a few years back. Found a good rheumatologist, and over the course of several months got the uric acid in control.
Heck the solid buildups in a couple of the frequently sore joint areas even dissolved, which allowed swelling to stay away.
My triggers were mainly a combination of some bottom feeding seafoods, and dark fermented beverages. The seafood was formally on the menu 3 times in a 2 week period, now maybe 2x a month.

I've been flareup free for close to 10 years, with just reducing frequent consumption of my triggers. And for beer, switched to more lagers than stouts or IPA's.

Morning slackers. Little chilly this morning but the sun is shining. Looks to be warming up to start the new week. Tomorrow is the sons of the American legion monthly omelette breakfast. I’m going to go down and help since I’m finally mobile enough. I have missed 3 months already and I normally don’t miss any.

Good man !!!
Thank you Randy. Been a member for about 6 years now and I enjoy doing stuff with the sal. The most enjoyable part for me is when we present colors at funerals or parades or sporting events. Next Saturday there is an event for the fallen that perished in a shooting a couple weeks ago. Three perished and there is a big fundraiser and they reached out to our vfw and legion to present colors. Our 2 posts know I will be at any event I’m able to.

We need something better than a "thumbs up" for this.
