Please put them in their place on a regular basis Ed. Someone needs to do it.

It wouldn't matter.

Take this Jeep Patriot for example..

Who knows your Jeep? Your GM dealer, that's who.
They bring it in and have our new alignment expert Brandon line that bish up. I mean, he took a 2 day Hunter alignment course, so he knows everything.

Well, after, a service writer and him determined it has torque steer. They then find the right control arm bushing that's no longer connected to the control arm.

They dump it on me to replace the control arm, which I do. Steering is now crooked as fùck. And, I noticed when I drove it the left front cv shaft is knocking like an I80 lot lizard on a freightliner sleeper..

So they have him do another alignment.

Then dump it back to me to replace the CV shaft..

I replace the shaft, road test, it pulls like a mutha ro the right.. but I wouldn't call it torque steer..

So, I look at the alignment printout.

3.2 degrees left caster.
2.1 degrees right caster..
Anyone who knows what the angles actually do know it's going to go to the side with the least amount. Us, factor in road crown. I like to see .5 degree higher on the right, or so, to compensate.

Tell them maybe they need to look at the angles as a hint.
I got told "they are all in tolerance " in a slightly snotty tone.

I said, that's cool, your the expert.

He's been doing these 3 months or so now.
I did my first alignment in 93. I might know something if they'd listen..

This is the type of comedy I come here for.

Those lube tech idiots are the reason I won't go to the dealer for oil changes. Ford used to do "The Works" package for $50. The cost difference of dealer vs. doing it myself was minimal... maybe a few dollars. (Though the dealer uses semi-syn and I could use full synthetic around the same price). If I knew someone like you was doing it, might've been a different story but I don't want the booger-eater lube tech touching my truck. Now "The Works" package is over $100 at most dealers so it's a lot less appealing.

Does lube boy look like this?

We have like 6 or 7 of them, so I'm sure one looks just like that. I don't even know the name of 2 of them.

If you could figure out a way for all these fukking crybaby whining millennials to do framing and roofing and other trades from home on their computer in their pajamas you could get rich

God forbid they actually work for a living

My dad taught me to go out and ask for WORK, not ask for a job, and to take a hardhat, gloves, and a lunch when I went to ask so they knew I was serious

Yeah, I am a crotchety old bastige...
But you are in good company.

I will probably get blasted for this but here goes

When we lived in Kentucky (1993-94) we knew some folks who raised tobacco and they and other tobacco farmers were in a bind because the laborers who had always come around at harvest time decided the work was beneath them

The farmers didn't know what to do until someone said just get some Mexican migrant workers; problem solved, all the help they needed and they worked longer and harder etc

Then the people who traditionally did the harvesting went apeshit and started screaming about losing their jobs to a bunch of wetbacks, etc
I've been seeing it for years and years. You ain't gonna get blasted for being honest.

The Toyota/Lexus dealer has a "fast lane" or something like that for "drive up" oil changes, etc

Not sure why they call it that because it take's a MONTH to get an oil change appointment, there is nothing drive up anymore and hasn't been for several years

You can't even get the highly touted Lexus priority service, loaners, etc anymore so what's the point of owning one other than the fact they are really nice cars

Of course they are still blaming covid and the economy and the phase of the moon and PMS, whatever, but none of it makes me want to drive 100 mile round trip for a dealer oil change after waiting a month for an appointment

I am tired of even trying to deal with them and my son's girlfriend suggested a place in the next town over for oil changes and they are quick, from what I have seen they are thorough, and they don't try to upsell you on air filters, cabin filters, etc

I got tired of dealing with taking used oil to the landfill plus I am old so I just hand them $100 for a full synthetic service in about 20 minutes and go on my merry way

I have been there 3 times now and I am seeing the same faces so there is some continuity with the help which is encouraging

explain larry if you think im inexperienced in life lol
You were questioning @41FanForLife experience. I was saying 42 years not as many as I have. You are reading wrong. Stop thinking everything is about you, you narcissist. Lol.

You are however, less experienced in life than I am. By age alone. Won't tell my life story on a forum. But you are an amateur. Other than the heart surgery bit.
